The Mycology Laboratory of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Pavia, has a research collection of fungal strains entitled: “Amico Fungo. Funghi ecosmart per un ambiente sostenibile”. The collection is highly specialized and includes strains of industrial and agro-environmental interest. The strains in the collection are the result of a careful selection based on their characteristics potentially useful for bioremediation, for controlling plant diseases and facing soil depletion. Strains are maintained in -80°C, in soil and water and represent material for research in the industrial and agricultural fields, as evidenced by the numerous collaborative relationships with companies and institutes operating in these sectors. The staff who manage the collection is involved in the characterization, valorisation and maintenance of fungal strains and provides additional external services, such as isolation, morphological and molecular identification, biological activity tests, bioinformatics consultancy, formative and training activities.
